About Us

Midas Port Adelaide Service Centre is seeking an experienced and motivated Automotive Workshop Controller who can lead workshop operations with confidence, manage staff, deliver exceptional customer service, and step in as a mechanic when required.

About the Role

As the Workshop Controller, you will oversee the entire workshop’s daily operations while ensuring high-quality workmanship and customer satisfaction. You will also perform mechanical duties when required, supporting workflow and maintaining productivity.

This position combines management, customer interaction, mechanical hands-on capability, and business oversight.


Key Responsibilities

Workshop Management & Operations

  • Manage day-to-day workshop activities and ensure efficient workflow

  • Assign jobs to mechanics and apprentices

  • Coordinate booking schedules, job cards, and invoicing

  • Ensure all repairs and services meet Midas quality standards

  • Maintain workshop WHS requirements and safe working practices


Mechanical Repairs & Diagnostics (as needed)

  • Carry out general mechanical repairs, diagnostics, and maintenance

  • Conduct logbook servicing, inspections, and troubleshooting

  • Assist mechanics with complex jobs when required


Parts, Inventory & Supplier Management

  • Order automotive parts and manage stock efficiently


Team Leadership & Staff Support

  • Lead, supervise, and motivate workshop staff

  • Provide training, mentoring, and performance feedback


About You – Skills & Experience


Required

  • Minimum 3+ years experience as a Workshop Controller

  • Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident

  • Qualified Light Vehicle Mechanic (Certificate III or equivalent)

  • Strong diagnostic and mechanical repair skills

  • Experience in workshop management or senior technician role

  • Excellent leadership and people management skills

  • Exceptional communication and customer service skills

  • Ability to multitask, prioritise and manage pressure

  • Valid Australian driver’s licence
