Task & responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

As a Bricklayer with Descon, you will be responsible for executing high-standard bricklaying work across our various residential sites. Your day-to-day tasks will include:

• Setting out brickwork in accordance with plans, drawings, and specifications
• Laying bricks for residential  projects
• Mixing and preparing mortar to correct ratios and specifications
• Constructing walls, piers, footings, and structural brickwork
• Installing cavity walls, damp-proof courses (DPC), and wall ties
• Cutting, shaping, and trimming bricks using hand and power tools
• Ensuring brickwork is level, plumb, and aligned using spirit levels and string lines
• Reading and interpreting construction plans and job specifications
• Repairing, restoring, and replacing damaged brickwork
• Cleaning excess mortar and finishing brickwork to required standards
• Coordinating with site supervisors, builders, and other trades
• Loading, unloading, and handling bricks and materials safely
• Maintaining tools, equipment, and a clean, safe worksite
• Complying with WHS regulations and site safety requirements

Qualification & experience

A successful candidate needs to meet the following requirements:

• At least AQF Certificate III in Bricklaying (or equivalent).
• At least two years of full-time (or part-time equivalent) Work Experience in a similar position.
• South Australian Bricklaying Contractor Licence (held or eligible to hold).
• Full/Unrestricted Class C South Australian Driver Licence (or interstate equivalent).
