Truck and Dog Drivers

Roads SA is a proudly South Australian owned and operated business servicing the civil sector since 1977. We provide large scale haulage services across South Australia, from city infrastructure remote regional projects, and everything in between. We work with national contractors and local businesses across the quarrying, asphalt, concrete and landscaping sectors. Operating day and night, our scheduling and operations team ensures every load is delivered safely efficiently, and on time.

 

 

We are looking for a Truck & 5 axle Dog Drivers to join our team for permanent day and night shifts. This role suits a professional driver who is comfortable working around active construction sites and understands the importance of timing, communication and safety in project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

·         Operate a truck and 5 axle dog combination to transport soil, aggregates and construction materials to and from project sites

·         Conduct daily pre-start, pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and roadworthiness

·         Complete delivery dockets, cartage records and required compliance documentation accurately

·         Follow fatigue management, load restraint and road transport regulations at all times

·         Assist with loading and unloading in coordination with plant operators and site teams

·         Communicate clearly with supervisors, dispatch and site personnel regarding schedules and site conditions

·         Maintain the vehicle in a clean and serviceable condition and report defects promptly

Skills & Experience

·         Current HC (Heavy Combination) driver’s licence

·         Construction Induction Card (White Card)

·         Must Demonstrate experience operating truck and dog combinations, ideally within civil or construction environments

·         Sound understanding of load restraint, mass limits and safe transport practices

·         Strong knowledge of road laws and heavy vehicle compliance requirements

·         Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to site teams

·         Reliable, punctual and organised with clear communication skills

·         Strong safety record and practical, safety-first approach

·         Flexibility to work early starts, extended hours and weekends as projects require
