The Fan & Light Shop is an established, family owned retail business in Mile End. We have been operating for over 40 years, specialising in ceiling fans, lighting, and ventilation. We have a small, supportive team and focus on maintaining a friendly, cooperative working environment where staff assist each other across daily tasks.

As we expand our showroom and online operations, we are looking for a reliable full time Sales and Store Assistant to join us.

This is primarily a retail customer service and sales role, with some day to day warehouse and stock management duties. It is well suited to someone who enjoys face to face customer interaction but also likes keeping active with hands on tasks behind the scenes.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assisting showroom customers, answering product enquiries, and processing retail sales.

• Preparing and packing online orders for dispatch.

• Receiving incoming stock deliveries and allocating them to the correct showroom or storage areas.

• Assisting with general stock maintenance, inventory tracking, and keeping the store tidy.

This is a full time position operating on a 5 day rotating roster. Because we are open 7 days a week, weekend work is required on a rotating basis.

• Customer service: Strong communication skills and a presentable, welcoming approach for face to face retail.

• Computer literacy: Comfortable using a standard desktop computer for everyday tasks like using Microsoft Office, web browsers, emails, and basic data entry.

• Physical capability: The role involves being on your feet and lifting stock boxes, typically weighing around 8kg (such as a standard ceiling fan box).

• Driver’s license: A current, full Australian driver's license.

• Reliability: A dependable work ethic and a willingness to help the team when unexpected challenges or staff absences arise.

• Previous experience in retail sales or customer service.

• A current forklift license (while not required, this is highly regarded).

• General experience or interest in lighting, electrical, or hardware products.
