About Torrens Transit:

Torrens Transit, a major subsidiary of Transit Systems and the ASX listed Kelsian Group, is the primary public mobility provider in Adelaide, moving approximately three quarters of the city's bus commuters. Operating across extensive government contracted regions, including the Adelaide’s East West, North South, Outer North-East and Outer North contract areas relying on a workforce of over 1,400 employees and a sprawling metropolitan network of over 800 buses. These operations run out of six metropolitan depots, such as Morphettville, Mile End, and St Agnes, and encompass high frequency transit routes like the iconic Adelaide O Bahn corridor alongside high-capacity special event logistics.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking an outstanding, high calibre Fleet and Facilities Manager to join our Senior Leadership team. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will hold ultimate ownership of daily execution, safety, and operational excellence across our Fleet and Facilities portfolios.

This is a foundational senior operational leadership role spanning the whole business. The role holds full accountability for leading, planning, and executing day to day management, control, and coordination of Torrens Transit’s fleet maintenance, asset management, and depot/facilities operations in alignment with Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) service delivery contracts.

What You Will Do:

·Provide leadership and direction to Workshop Managers, the Workshop Inventory and Administration Manager, Fleet Support Manager and the Senior Facilities Manager to build a high-performance and customer focussed culture across our 6 depots.
Work with Workshop Managers to develop and deliver the maintenance strategy to ensure fleet reliability, liaising with various Operations teams and the Scheduling and Planning teams to meet customer requirements.
Oversee asset management systems and fleet lifecycle planning, preparing business cases for the Managing Director regarding capital acquisitions and low emission transitions.
Work with the Senior Facilities Manager to manage facility infrastructure and contractor performance to ensure safety and statutory compliance across all depots.
Control budgets and inventory with relevant line reports while optimising procurement processes.
Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team and external stakeholders to align operational delivery with strategic business priorities and compliance standards.
Champion Fleet and Facilities Safety: Foster an uncompromising culture of safety across all depots, enforcing strict safety standards, adherence to internal HSEQ policies and procedures and compliance with Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) and National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) standards.

What You Bring:

Senior management experience in passenger/road transport or similar environment.
A proven ability to lead multiple and diverse teams across multi-site operations, fostering an uncompromising culture of safety and driving high performance throughout a dispersed network.
A track record of driving continuous improvement and operational transformation, underpinned by strategic thinking, tactical ability, and commercial acumen.
Strong HSEQ knowledge applied in workshop environments, alongside solid asset management capability and experience in planning, procurement, and inventory management.
Proven ability to utilise information management systems (e.g, TIMS / FMX) and analytics to drive operational improvements, identify trends, and report on key performance indicators.
The position requires high level stakeholder management and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and lead change while engaging effectively with senior leaders and government bodies.
Relevant trade or tertiary qualifications (or demonstrated equivalence) and a current driver’s licence.
Previous experience in Zero Emissions fleet and infrastructure management would be beneficial but not mandatory.

Performance in this role is measured through a balanced scorecard of key performance indicators (KPIs) focused heavily on the delivery of high fleet availability and reliability through proactive maintenance and defect management. Further assessment criteria include maintaining strong safety standards and reduced incident rates, ensuring maintenance costs remain within budget, achieving full facility compliance, and meeting targets for staff appraisal and performance, engagement and training.
