Assistant Manager – Logistics & Procurement
Caledonia is a modern industrial services company supporting the industrial, mining, energy, domestic and commercial construction sectors. With involvement in high-profile major projects and partnerships with some of the largest organisations in the energy, industrial and construction industries, we are seeking an organised and hands-on Assistant Manager – Logistics & Procurement to join our team.
About the Role
This role supports the National Logistics & Procurement Manager across logistics, yard operations and procurement functions. Acting as second-in-charge for company procurement, you will provide hands-on operational, administrative and IT support to help ensure the smooth running of scaffold yard operations and supply chain activities.
Key Responsibilities
Scaffold Yard Operations
Oversee day-to-day operations of the scaffold yard
Manage yard personnel, including supervision, task allocation, and coordination
Track and manage hours worked by yard staff
Oversee quality control of work performed, ensuring standards are consistently met
Vehicle & Transport Coordination
Schedule daily vehicle movements in coordination with the operations team
Book transport with external parties, including interstate and international freight
Liaise with carriers and logistics providers to ensure timely, cost-effective movement of goods
Procurement (2IC)
Act as second-in-charge for company procurement
Deal directly with suppliers on day-to-day matters
Create purchase orders (POs) and place orders
Support the 1IC, who leads deal setup, negotiations, and supplier agreements
Maintain accurate procurement records and follow up on order fulfilment
Support to Group Logistics Manager
Provide assistance to the National Logistics & Procurement Manager across all of the above functions
Offer general administrative and operational support as required
Provide IT assistance and troubleshooting to support business operations
About You
Strong organisational and coordination skills
Experience in logistics, procurement, transport coordination, yard operations or a similar environment
Confident communicating with suppliers, carriers, internal teams and external stakeholders
Ability to prioritise tasks and manage competing deadlines
Hands-on approach with strong attention to detail
Sound computer skills, with the ability to provide basic IT support and troubleshooting where required
