Adelaide Colorectal & General Surgery is a highly regarded specialist surgical practice committed to delivering exceptional patient care in a professional, supportive and compassionate environment.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Practice Nurse to join our team. This is a pivotal role supporting our surgeons, patients, and broader practice team through a combination of clinical care, patient education, and administrative coordination.

In this diverse and hands-on position, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth delivery of high-quality patient care across all stages of the surgical journey.

Key responsibilities in this role include, but are not limited to:

Clinical & Patient Care

  • Coordinating theatre lists and managing surgeon schedules

  • Conducting patient clinical assessments (including pre-procedure screening)

  • Providing pre- and post-operative care and patient education

  • Supporting patients with procedure preparation

  • Managing patient enquiries and escalating clinical concerns as required

  • Liaising with hospitals, anaesthetists, and other healthcare providers

  • Assisting with emergency bookings and short-notice cases

  • Maintaining infection control standards and a clean clinical environment

Administrative Support

  • Managing appointments, patient bookings, and reminders

  • Processing billing, Medicare claims, and payments

  • Maintaining accurate patient records and clinical documentation

  • Supporting the practice team to ensure efficient daily operations

About You

The successful applicant will demonstrate:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA

  • Previous experience in surgical, perioperative, or specialist practice nursing

  • Strong clinical skills, particularly in post-operative care and patient education

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-focused approach

  • High attention to detail and strong organisational abilities

  • The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Confidence working both independently and as part of a team

  • Sound knowledge of Medicare and private health processes

  • Experience with clinical software systems
