The Company
Austofix is a leading innovator in musculoskeletal healthcare, offering a comprehensive portfolio of trauma devices designed to restore mobility, reduce pain, and improve patient quality of life. Our growth is driven by world-class products, a strong commitment to patient outcomes, and a focus on education for the orthopaedic community. We are a fast-paced, dynamic team of passionate professionals shaping the future of orthopaedic care.
The Role
This is a senior commercial role for a driven med-tech professional who is energised by finding new leads, opening doors and converting them into long‑term business. Reporting to the General Manager, you will drive Austofix’s revenue growth across both domestic and international markets, build and manage our distribution network, and help position Austofix as a trusted partner in orthopaedic trauma.
You will have genuine influence over strategy, pricing, partnerships and the product pipeline — within a high‑trust, entrepreneurial environment where your contribution is visible and valued. We are open to candidates based in Adelaide (our head office) or on the Australian east coast.
Key Responsibilities
• Actively prospect, generate and convert new business across domestic and international markets
• Develop and execute the sales strategy aligned to revenue, margin and growth targets
• Identify and open new high‑margin markets and distribution channels
• Manage distributor, agency and consultancy agreements, negotiating terms that ensure commercial alignment
• Build regional sales plans and KPI frameworks with each distribution partner
• Provide technical training and clinical support to distribution partners and end users
• Lead annual pricing reviews with the GM and CFO; optimise discount and commission structures
• Deliver rolling 3‑month sales forecasts in collaboration with Operations and Purchasing
• Gather competitive intelligence to shape product and commercial decisions
• Contribute to monthly Board reporting and senior management meetings
• Support ISO 13485 QMS compliance, change control and post‑market feedback activities
About You
• At least 7 years’ demonstrable business development experience
• A genuine self‑starting, tenacious and motivated individual energised by winning new business as well as supporting and growing existing business.
• Experience in the medical device industry preferred; orthopaedic implants or trauma devices even more so
• High emotional intelligence - able to build rapport and credibility with surgeons, nursing and theatre staff, hospital administrators, and distribution agents alike
• Proven track record managing distributor and agency networks
• Strong commercial acumen - pricing strategy, contract negotiation and margin management
• Familiarity with ISO 13485, TGA, CE and/or FDA regulatory frameworks
• Entrepreneurial mindset; comfortable with autonomy in an SME environment
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required
• Undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering, Life Sciences or a related field (desirable); a postgraduate business qualification is regarded
What We Offer
• Direct influence over strategy, product direction and company culture
• Work with a passionate team genuinely committed to improving patient outcomes
• Australian‑owned and operated - decisions made locally, not dictated from overseas
• Competitive remuneration: base salary + STI + professional development support
• Flexibility to be based in Adelaide or on the east coast
