About the Client

Our client is South Australias principal electricity distributor, delivering and maintaining the poles, wires, substations and network services that reliably carry power to hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses across the state while supporting the transition to more renewable and resilient energy systems.

About the Role

The Technical Drafting Officer is responsible for the timely preparation and maintenance of technical designs and network documentation for fibre-based and copper-based systems. The role supports regulated and unregulated projects, manages network record updates, and responds to move, change, and documentation requests from internal and external stakeholders. You will provide technical expertise to support the planning, development, and ongoing management of telecommunications networks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare fibre and copper network designs and technical drawings
  • Deliver installation, commissioning, and as-built documentation
  • Manage moves and changes to network records and asset databases
  • Maintain drawings in line with standards and customer specifications
  • Provide technical assistance to field installation and restoration teams
  • Perform inspections and support commissioning activities
  • Liaise with stakeholders to identify requirements and deliver designs
  • Manage third-party documentation and change requests
  • Analyse and recommend appropriate technologies and solutions
  • Maintain accurate records of fibre assets and services

Skills and Experience Required

  • Strong CAD capability with proven fibre design experience
  • Experience producing technical, commissioning, and as-built documentation
  • Ability to manage network records, drawings, and asset databases
  • Advanced Diploma in Telecommunications, Electrical, or Electronic Engineering
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
  • Current Class C drivers licence
  • Experience with Connect Master database (highly regarded)
  • Exposure to Electranet design standards (desirable)
  • ACMA Open Registration with endorsements (desirable)
