Overview

We are seeking an experienced Head of IT Security / Associate Director of IT Security to join a growing security function in a well established organisation.  You work closely with the CISO to shape and deliver the organisation's security strategy.

This is a unique opportunity for a technically strong security leader who enjoys remaining hands-on while also driving security initiatives, influencing stakeholders, and building high-performing teams. The successful candidate will play a key role in protecting and evolving the organisation's security posture across infrastructure, cloud, applications, and emerging technologies, including AI.

As a trusted partner to the CISO, you will help define security roadmaps, lead critical security programmes, and provide technical leadership across the wider technology organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the CISO to deliver security strategy and key security initiatives.
  • Provide technical leadership across security engineering, vulnerability management, threat management, networking, and systems security.
  • Lead and enhance security operations, monitoring, and incident response capabilities.
  • Manage and optimise vulnerability management programmes, including Qualys.
  • Drive the adoption and optimisation of Microsoft security technologies.
  • Engage with senior stakeholders across technology and the wider business.
  • Mentor and develop team members, with the opportunity to grow the security team over time.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, including AI-related security risks and opportunities.

Required Experience

  • Proven experience in a senior security leadership role.
  • Strong hands-on technical background across infrastructure and cyber security.
  • Experience working within Microsoft-centric environments, including:
    • Microsoft Defender
    • Microsoft Sentinel
    • Entra ID (Azure AD)
    • Microsoft 365 Security
    • Azure Security
  • Strong knowledge of vulnerability management, threat management, networking, and systems security.
  • Experience managing stakeholders and influencing security decisions at a senior level.
  • Previous people management experience is desirable.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing security function, work directly alongside the CISO, and play a key role in shaping the organisation's security strategy and future team growth.
