We believe that healthy, nutritious meals are an essential part of children's growth, wellbeing, and learning. We are seeking a passionate and organised Full-Time Centre Cook to join our team and provide high-quality meals and snacks that support the health and development of our young learners.
About the RoleAs our Centre Cook, you will play an important role in the daily life of the centre by preparing fresh, nutritious, and appealing meals for babies, toddlers, and kindergarten-aged children.
Working closely with centre leadership and educators, you will plan menus, manage dietary requirements, maintain food safety standards, and create positive food experiences that encourage healthy eating habits from an early age.
This is a full-time position offering family-friendly daytime hours with no evening or split shifts.
Key ResponsibilitiesPlan, prepare, and serve nutritious meals, morning teas, afternoon teas, and snacks for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years.
Develop seasonal menus that align with Australian dietary guidelines for young children.
Cater for allergies, intolerances, cultural requirements, religious considerations, and individual dietary needs.
Prepare age-appropriate meals for infants, including purees and modified textures where required.
Promote healthy eating habits through appealing presentation and food variety.
Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment.
Monitor food stock levels and order supplies as required.
Receive, check, and store deliveries according to food safety requirements.
Maintain accurate food preparation and temperature records.
Ensure compliance with all food safety regulations and centre policies.
Maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and sanitation.
Monitor food storage, preparation, and serving procedures.
Ensure allergy management procedures are strictly followed.
Participate in centre audits and compliance processes.
Work collaboratively with educators and centre leadership.
Communicate effectively regarding children's dietary requirements.
Build positive relationships with children, families, and staff.
Contribute to a positive, welcoming, and inclusive centre culture.
Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
Current Safe Food Handling Certification.
Current Working with Children Check (WWCC)..
Demonstrated experience in commercial, hospitality, childcare, school, aged care, or similar food preparation environments.
Strong understanding of food allergies, intolerances, and special dietary requirements.
Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
Ability to work independently and manage daily kitchen operations.
Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification.
Previous experience in an Early Childhood Education and Care setting.
Knowledge of nutrition requirements for children aged 0–5 years.
Understanding of National Quality Standards (NQS) and childcare food regulations.
