About the role

German Community Services Inc. is seeking a qualified Diversional Therapist to deliver structured leisure and activity programs for older people within a CHSP-funded, centre-based service.

The role operates in a culturally specific aged care environment, supporting clients from diverse backgrounds, with a focus on the German-speaking community.

Key duties
  • Plan, coordinate and deliver diversional therapy and leisure activity programs

  • Facilitate group and individual activities that support wellbeing and social connection

  • Ensure activities are client-centred, culturally appropriate and aligned to client needs

  • Support client engagement, independence and participation

  • Maintain required documentation and reporting standards

  • Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers to deliver programs

  • Contribute to ongoing improvement of activity services

About you
  • Qualification in Diversional Therapy, Leisure and Health, Recreation Therapy or equivalent OR

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in aged care, community services or diversional therapy

  • Experience delivering structured group programs for older people

  • Strong communication, planning and interpersonal skills

  • Current First Aid Certificate

  • Current National Police Check, Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check

  • Current driver’s licence

Highly desirable
  • German language skills

  • Knowledge of German culture and traditions

  • Experience working in culturally diverse or culturally specific aged care settings
