About the role

Wakefield Plains Medical Clinic is seeking a Medical Receptionist to join our friendly healthcare team on a casual basis offering 2 days per week (Wed/Fri) & every 3rd Saturday morning. This role is based in Balaklava, SA 5461 and is fundamental to the smooth operation of our clinic. As Medical Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for patients, playing a vital role in creating a welcoming environment and ensuring efficient administrative processes. This position is essential to maintaining our clinic's reputation for excellent patient care and organisational excellence.

What you'll be doing

  1. Greeting patients warmly and professionally upon arrival, ensuring they feel welcomed and valued

  2. Managing patient appointments using clinic scheduling systems, including booking, rescheduling and cancellations

  3. Processing patient registrations and maintaining accurate medical records and documentation

  4. Handling telephone inquiries professionally and directing calls to appropriate staff members

  5. Processing patient payments and managing billing inquiries with accuracy and discretion

  6. Coordinating with medical practitioners and nursing staff to ensure efficient patient flow throughout the clinic

  7. Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to privacy legislation and clinic policies at all times

  8. Assisting with reception area maintenance and ensuring a clean, organised workspace

What we're looking for

  1. Experience working as a medical receptionist or in a similar healthcare administrative role preferred.

  2. Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks effectively

  3. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a genuine commitment to patient care and satisfaction

  4. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality

  5. Professional telephone manner and excellent customer service skills

  6. Attention to detail and accuracy when processing patient information and payments

  7. Flexibility and reliability, with the ability to adapt to the fast-paced clinic environment

  8. Current Police Clearance (or willingness to obtain one)

  9. CPR certification (or willingness to obtain one)
