Investigator College is seeking an experienced secondary teacher to take on the role of Head of Teaching and Learning – Secondary School (POR 3), commencing at the start of the 2027 school year.
This is a three-year Position of Responsibility with an 18-lesson teaching release, reflecting a significant leadership role within the Secondary School. The successful applicant will remain actively connected to classroom teaching while leading key areas of teaching and learning across Years 7–12.
Applications are welcome from experienced secondary teachers across all subject areas. Leadership experience is highly regarded, but we also welcome applications from outstanding teachers who are ready to step into a significant instructional leadership role.
About the role
This role provides leadership across teaching and learning in the Secondary School, with a strong focus on improving the quality and consistency of classroom practice.
Working closely with the Deputy Principal and leadership team, you will lead work in curriculum development, assessment and reporting, data use, and staff professional learning. A central expectation of the role is ensuring that teaching practice across the College is evidence-informed, consistent, and clearly focused on improving student learning outcomes.
You will work directly with staff to support and strengthen classroom practice through coaching, professional conversations, and targeted professional learning. You will also oversee secondary assessment and data processes, including standardised testing programs such as NAPLAN and PAT, and support staff to use data meaningfully to inform their teaching.
The role also includes leading the College’s engagement with emerging educational practice and technologies, including AI, ensuring these are used in thoughtful and purposeful ways that strengthen learning.

Demonstrated capacity to lead improvement in teaching practice through coaching, influence and professional credibility across a secondary setting
Deep understanding of high-impact, evidence-informed teaching practice and how it translates into consistent classroom improvement
Proven ability to work alongside teachers to lift practice in a way that is practical, respectful and sustained over time
Strong capability in the meaningful use of data to identify trends, improve teaching decisions and lift student outcomes
Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust, credibility and strong professional relationships across a school
Sound professional judgement, emotional intelligence and composure when working through complex or challenging leadership situations
