About the Opportunity
We’re seeking a passionate Work Health & Safety Advisor to join our People & Culture team.
This is more than a compliance role, this is your opportunity to shape a positive safety culture, influence meaningful change, and ensure every person goes home safely at the end of the day.
You will be a trusted advisor and a driving force behind continuous improvement, working closely with leaders and teams across Council.
What You’ll Do:
In this role, you will:
Lead and inspire safety excellence
Drive the continuous improvement of WHS systems, ensuring they are practical, effective and aligned with legislative and organisational expectations.
Turn data into insight and action
Coordinate audits, inspections and reporting processes, using WHS and RTW data to inform decisions and strengthen governance.
Champion systems that support people
Oversee WHS platforms (including Skytrust), ensuring accurate data, effective incident management and meaningful reporting.
Build capability and confidence
Deliver and coordinate WHS training and development programs that empower our workforce to work safely and confidently.
Provide trusted advice
Partner with managers and employees to identify risks, solve problems and embed safe work practices.
Influence culture and engagement
Support committees, wellbeing initiatives and communication that bring safety to life across the organisation.
Make a real impact in recovery and care
Lead Return to Work coordination, supporting employees through recovery with empathy, professionalism and strong outcomes.
What You’ll Bring:
• Qualifications in Work Health & Safety (or working towards them).
• RTW Coordinator experience or willingness to obtain accreditation.
• Experience in WHS systems, audits, investigations and risk management.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust at all levels.
• Confidence using WHS and learning systems (e.g. Skytrust, ELMO).
• Experience supporting training programs and workforce capability.
• Knowledge of workers compensation and Return to Work processes.
