Aboriginal Family Support Services is the leading Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation that has been providing services to Aboriginal families and communities across South Australia for over 40 years.

Youth Support Workers support young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to navigate through their day to day lives

We strongly encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and people living with a disability to apply.

Who we are looking for:

  • Working with young people and their families and the education department to improve school attendance and to support young people to complete their schooling and or training
  • Providing intensive support to young people in their transition from primary to high school or in their transition between schools
  • Facilitating young people's social connections through social, sporting and cultural events and activities
  • Actively supporting young people to explore options for identifying family and extended family connections
  • Equipping young people with the skills and knowledge to more effectively manage and resolve family conflict
  • Working with young people and their networks to increase employment opportunities and outcomes.

What you need (Compliance Requirements)

  • A minimum Certificate IV in a relevant area of study and appropriate demonstrated knowledge and competencies
  • A South Australian Working With Children Check (WWCC)
  • A National Police Check
  • An unrestricted current South Australian Drivers Licence
  • A current Provide First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011or HLTAID012)
  • To be Assessed as suitable via a Psychological Suitability Assessment
  • A Safe Environments for Children and Young People (Through Their Eyes) Certificate
  • Unrestricted eligibility to work in Australia
