About the role

We are seeking an experienced Butcher/Retail professional to join the team at Graze and Gather Gourmet Foods in Warradale. This is a part-time position that combines skilled butchery work with customer-facing retail responsibilities. In this role, you will be the face of our premium meat offerings, delivering exceptional service whilst maintaining the highest standards of food preparation and presentation. This position is integral to our reputation for quality and customer satisfaction, ensuring that every product that leaves our counter meets our exacting standards.

Key responsibilities

1. Selecting, preparing and butchering meat to the highest professional standards, including boning, trimming and portioning

2. Developing and maintaining attractive, hygienic and well-organised meat displays that appeal to customers

3. Providing expert advice to customers regarding meat selection, quality, cuts and cooking methods

4. Managing inventory, stock rotation and ordering to ensure product freshness and availability

5. Maintaining exceptional standards of food safety and hygiene in accordance with regulatory requirements

6. Operating till systems and processing customer transactions accurately

7. Engaging with customers in a friendly and professional manner to build loyalty and repeat business

8. Cleaning and sanitising all work areas, equipment and tools throughout shifts

9. Supporting the wider team to deliver an excellent customer experience

What we're looking for

1. Formal butchery qualifications

2. Proven expertise in meat cutting, preparation and presentation techniques

3. Strong knowledge of different meat types, cuts and their culinary applications

4. Excellent food safety and hygiene awareness, with understanding of HACCP principles

5. Outstanding customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and build rapport

6. Physical capability to perform repetitive tasks involving standing, lifting and using sharp tools

7. Reliability and punctuality, with the ability to work flexibly including potential weekend shifts

8. Attention to detail and pride in presentation and quality

9. Experience in a retail essential
