Job Overview

Boart Longyear is the global industry leader in safety, drilling innovation and productivity. We are looking for an experienced Payroll Supervisor to join our small HR team in our Adelaide Office. Working with the Payroll Officer, the primary purpose of this role is to manage end‑to‑end payroll processing and ensure compliance with legislation, awards, Enterprise Agreements and company policies.

Day‑to‑day Responsibilities
  • Lead the payroll function for the Australian Drilling Services Business (approx. 450 people)
  • Process end‑to‑end payroll on a fortnightly and monthly basis
  • Ensure accurate calculation of wages, salaries, superannuation, allowances, and deductions
  • Maintain and update employee payroll records
  • Interpret and apply relevant awards, enterprise agreements, and legislation
  • Manage payroll queries and provide timely support to employees and managers
  • Reconcile payroll reports and ensure accuracy of data
  • Prepare and submit statutory reporting (e.g. STP, PAYG, superannuation)
  • Assist with payroll audits and compliance checks
  • Process new starters, terminations, and employee changes
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure data integrity
Qualifications and Skills
  • Proven experience managing a small to medium payroll function with end‑to‑end processing preferred
  • Dayforce experience is highly advantageous
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organisational and time‑management skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills
  • Proficiency in payroll systems and Microsoft Excel
  • Good proactive safety culture; must meet pre‑employment medical and drug/alcohol testing
