About the Opportunity
Are you an experienced and visionary leader in asset management with a passion for the community? Town of Gawler is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Manager Assets to lead, manage, and oversee our asset management framework, policies, systems, and teams.
Reporting to the Director Infrastructure & Recreation, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the sustainable management of Council's diverse asset portfolio. You will provide strategic leadership, drive continuous improvement, and offer expert advice to enhance the liveability and prosperity of our community. This position.
What you’ll be doing
Leading and driving asset management across all functional areas of Council
Providing strategic asset management services and professional advice for asset life cycle management
Overseeing the development, implementation, and review of Council's Asset Management Plans and Capital Works Program
Leading the management of Council's Property Portfolio and related capital works
Developing and implementing strategic transport and traffic management solutions
Managing budgets and financial performance for the assets portfolio
Leading and developing a high-performing team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement

Opportunity – 5-year Fulltime Contract

Salary - Fulltime position - Competitive Package, $169,239 to $175,503 inclusive of Superannuation, Income Protection and Journey Insurance

About You
You are a strategic thinker with exceptional leadership skills and a commitment to excellence. Combining sound technical capability with strong leadership, communication and project delivery skills, you can work collaboratively across Council, engage effectively with stakeholders and provide clear, evidence-based advice to support sustainable asset decisions.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
Tertiary qualifications in Asset Management, Civil Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Project Management, or a related engineering/construction-based discipline
Demonstrated experience in asset management, civil engineering, landscape architecture, project management in the private, local, and/or State Government sectors
Proven experience leading and managing staff in budget management, safety, culture, innovation, customer service, project management, and operational excellence
Demonstrated experience in end-to-end asset management, including long-lifespan built assets, renewal programs, and depreciation management
Excellent project and contract management skills
Demonstrated experience with modern asset management systems
A current National Criminal History Record Check with no adverse findings
Eligibility for membership to the Institute of Engineering Australia
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
A relevant postgraduate qualification (e.g., Civil Engineering, Master of Business Administration)
Current, unimpeded South Australia driver's licence and a current and valid White Card
Knowledge and understanding of Local Government or Public Sector Asset management
